Rick Cashin began his admirable career in 1980 joining the Metropolitan District Commission. Regardless of his high ranking position with the state police his heart always lay with his family and his hometown of Boxford Ma.
Cashin was heavily involved in the Boxford Athletic Association, a nonprofit organization that operates youth sports programs, and served as treasurer and former president. He spent countless afternoons coaching youth athletic teams and rooting for both his 2 daughters and 2 sons whom he also coached. No matter how busy Cashin was he always found time to tackle new projects such as being President of the local beach, Stiles Pond where he helped memorialize a fallen local youth Keith Koster. Rick Cashin’s death has left a void in the Boxford community and in the hearts of everyone he touched. In memory of this great man, the Boxford Athletic Association hosts an annual triathlon in his name. The event has become a community tradition that hundreds of participants and volunteers look forward to every September.
